Dr. Herms will update the group on the current status of EAB within the United States, as well as the management practices that have proven effective over the past decade. Beetle Busting–How Davey works to survey, map, assess, treat, and eradicate invasive pests from our urban and community forests

DEMO – Air Spade. A comprehensive demonstration of how to best utilize an air spade for root and soil care for our urban trees.
11:45 – 1:00 pm Travel + Box Lunch (included in registration)
Brigitte Orrick – Director, Recruiting and Employee Development
Recruiting and Workforce Shortages. Brigitte will highlight industry trends relating to our work force, and how Davey is working in the present, and looking to the future, to fill our organizations needs for growth.
1:00 – 5:00 Forest Tour
Christine Balk, M.S. – Technical Advisor, Plant Pathology             
The Urban Impact of Decay Fungi – A Field Tour. We will take a tour of the historic Standing Rock Cemetery, or the Oak Knolls Golf Course, to observe examples of various fruiting bodies, and the affects the decay has on the health and structure of our urban trees. Christine will emphasize stressors unique to our urban landscapes.

Meeting Details

Location: The Conference will be held at the Davey Corporate Headquarters in Kent Ohio.

Travel: Those flying in should plan to arrive at the Cleveland Airport.  An afternoon shuttle will be provided.  Time will be late afternoon, and will arrive at the Kent State Hotel by 5:00.  Time will be determined based on flight times.  Travel during the conference will be by van. 

Accommodations: A block of rooms are being held at the Kent State Hotel.  Use the reservation identification “CEFTS” when making your reservations.  The hotel is located at 215 South Depeyster Street, Kent, OH, 44240.  Guest Reservation number 330-346-0100.  Room cost will be $109.00 per night (single room), including taxes.  A breakfast is provided by the hotel each morning.

Registration: Conference fee will be $80.00.  Please make checks to Davey. Payment can be made at the door, or mailed in prior to the meeting.  If you would like a billing for accounting purposes, please contact Katie (contact information below).
